Canmore Community Fiddlers

Canmore is nestled in the Rocky Mountains, about an hour from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Canmore Community Fiddlers are an all-ages, fairly casual, and delightfully low-key collective of fiddlers and accompanying folk musicians from around the Bow Valley who simply just like to get together to play music (and sometimes eat too). We gather for monthly open community fiddle sessions, perform infrequently in community events, sporadically host workshops with visiting guest fiddlers, and share music at our local long-term care facilities. If you are a folk musician in the Bow Valley and would like to join in on the fun, please get in touch!
Community Fiddle Sessions
These happen about once-a-month in friendly people's living rooms, or, when the weather cooperated, on decks and in parks.
Everyone is welcome.

Community Outreach
Visits to our local long-term care facilities to share music happen throughout the year on special holidays like Christmas, St.Patrick's Day and Robbie Burns.
Random Acts of Violins
This is a fiddle flash mob where upbeat tunes and bright colourful costumes are injected into unsuspecting locations.
An element of fun is paramount!

Workshops
We've been lucky to have workshops with visiting fiddlers Gordon Stobbe, JJ Guy and Jarred Albright.

Youtube Videos
During the darkest days of our first covid Christmas, when we weren't able to gather in person or play together, we made a video collaboration to keep us feeling unified. That video even made it onto the local news! Then we made a few more, just for fun. We're working our way to one-million hits (little ways to go yet!) You can check us out here:
