I genuinely enjoy sharing my love of the fiddle with learners of all ages,
from freshly potty-trained (my bottom line) through to retired, and I teach both private lessons and group classes. I have a particular passion helping families integrate playing music together into their everyday lives, and especially love working with siblings and parent-child duos. I have a Suzuki-method pedagogical approach, with a strong focus on aural learning long before introducing my students to reading written music. I now teach exclusively fiddle styles, as opposed to classical music, as it is my true love. I greatly prefer to teach in-person but can sometimes be coaxed into teaching online lessons if it's the right fit. It is NEVER too late to start. Learning to play a musical instrument, at any age, improves brain function, develops better coordination, improves memory, and reduces stress (although I'm not certain all of my adult students would necessarily agree with the last point!). I have successfully started new students as young as 2, and as wise as 84.
My all-time favourite testimonial from one of my later-in-life-learners is,
"I used to tell my friends that I would like to come back as a musician in my next life. I never imagined that it would be possible for me in THIS life...but here I am!"
